Maria Kyprianou was born in 1977 in Limassol, Cyprus. Maria mainly works with ceramic sculptures and has her own workshop in the Historic Centre of Limassol. Maria was interested in art from a young age, as she had a special inclination for painting. She practiced the art of painting and sculpting under the direction of the renowned Cypriot artist Pambos Michlis and the guidance of the sculptor Panicos Spanos, and later became a professional ceramic sculptor herself. Her practice is unique due to the size of her works and the skill with which she handles the clay. Her female figures are known for their captivating features, as elements from mythology and fairytales are evident in many of her sculptures. She has participated in international sculpture symposiums and many group exhibitions including the “Art Festival Limassol” in the Old Port of Limassol 2019, “Open Studios: Ksoporti” in Limassol 2019, Municipality of Agia Napa 2020 , the exhibition by the Municipality of Limassol “Collective Memories” at the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre Apothikes Papadaki 2021, “Human mobility through the ages”at Cornaro Limassol 2021, and “SHE” at Exhibit 8 gallery 2022.
